A “total loss” after fire

 GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Garrard County Food Pantry is an “total loss” after a fire broke out Sunday morning.

 Lancaster City Fire and Rescue reported that it began just at 10 a.m.

 Co-director Angela Cash said about 100 meals donated for Thanksgiving, including more than 100 turkeys which were destroyed by the fire.

 Despite the fact that firefighters were quick respond, the structure nevertheless damaged.

 “We’re going to try and maintain our normal lives as we can. However, it’s going to take lots of prayers and a lot of work. As you can see, the loss was everything. It’s a mess right now. I am still in shock. Cash admitted, “I don’t know what to do or how to handle the situation.”

 Cash noted that there were plenty of presents for kids with Christmas less than a month away. Cash is a renowned aid to those suffering from illness.

 Even those who donate could be in need as cleanup goes on. Father Sichko will be there to assist. He would like everyone to be reminded that the season of giving isn’t only this time of year, it’s every year.

 Nobody was in the house at the time , and no one was hurt. The origin of the fire is currently under investigation.

 Cash mentioned that anyone who would like to replace the Thanksgiving meals lost can bring turkeys to Monty Majors, a board member at First Southern Bank in downtown Lancaster.

 Lancaster Police Department announced on Facebook Sunday night that the suspect had been taken into custody.

 Cash tells LEX 18 that the person arrested comes to collect food. He states that he is hoping that the public doesn’t denigrate the woman being arrested but instead ask for prayers for her.
